MARTINEZ – On Tuesday June 19, 2018, investigators from the Martinez Police Department arrested 31-year-old Martinez resident Daniel Howarter for sexual assault of a child.
A confidential victim came forward to the Martinez Police Department and reported she was sexually assaulted in 2012-2013, when she was 15 years old. The victim was a student at a local Martinez dance studio, where Howarter was her dance instructor.
Suspect Howarter, was 25 years old at the time of the assault.
Howarter was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility and his bail was set at $75,000. No other victims were identified during the investigation.
On June 26, 2018, The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the investigation and filed two Felony counts of sexual assault against Howarter.
