Martinez: Bay Area FamilyFest Set for Labor Day Weekend

by ECT

FamilyFest 2

The Bay Area FamilyFest returns on August 31st through September 2nd to the beautiful Waterfront Park in downtown Martinez.  Waterfront Park is part of the 344-acre Martinez Regional Shoreline Park.

The three-day family weekend is packed with fun for all ages. There will be live entertainment, free activities, rides, sports for children, and delicious food.  Kids can meet their favorite Nickelodeon star, SpongeBob Squarepants and jam out with Radio Disney. TGC Action Sports BMX Stunt team is a favorite. Top BMX stars will be showing their stunts as they soar in the air.

Jay Bedecarre, Producer of event, reminds residents that “the Bay Bridge is closed this weekend so it’s a perfect weekend to stay close to home and attend a fabulous event that is all about family.”

The event costs $5 per person if you bring a can of food or $6 without canned food.  Babies under 2 years old and seniors over 65 are free.  There is also free parking.  The event runs from 10am to 6pm daily.

There is an additional fee for rides. There is everything from zip lines, hamster balls, water bubbles, and giant slides to the traditional Ferris wheel.

“Before you step 100 feet into this event, you will find yourself surrounded by bounce houses, free face painting, free balloon art, and Kid’s Town America,” says Bedecarre.  Kids Town America is a play area designed for kids 10 and under where everything is free.

This event not only brings families and the community together, but also supports many organizations. Proceeds from the Bay Area FamilyFest benefit several local non-profit health, sports and educational organizations. All canned food is donated to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
