Manteca Man Charged in Connection of Contra Costa County Fairgrounds Homicide

The Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office have announced that Jamontee Mahari Jones of Manteca was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on Tuesday in connection with the September homicide at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds.

Jones, has been charged with one count of homicide and two counts of attempted homicide and is being held on $5.05 million bail.

According to a September 9 press release, the victim in the incident has been identified as 31-year-old Amber Abangan of Oakland who died from a gunshot wound to the torso. Two others were injured from gun shot wounds but were non-life threatening.  The incident occurred at 1:36 am at the Paradise Skate Roller Rink in Antioch at the Fairgrounds.

Homicide Suspect in Custody
The suspect wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred on September 8, 2013 at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in Antioch is in custody.
20-year-old Jamontee Mahari Jones of Manteca was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on Tuesday, November 19, 2013.
An arrest warrant had been issued for Jones in connection to the murder of Amber Abangan and the attempted homicide of two others. 31-year-old Abangan of Oakland was shot to death in the early morning of September 8, 2013. Deputy Sheriffs were dispatched to a report of someone brandishing a firearm at the Paradise Skate Roller Rink. They were told a fight had occurred at that location. Abangan was taken to Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch where she was later pronounced deceased. Two other shooting victims were taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with non life threatening injuries.
Jones is currently being held in lieu of $5,050,000 bail.
The D.A’s Office has formally charged Jones with one count of homicide and two counts of attempted homicide.
