On Saturday morning around 8:00 am, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters along with resources from Alameda County responded to a vehicle crash on Vasco Road near the county line.
The incident caused a temporary road closure as the vehicle traveled off the roadway and a medical helicopter requested.
According to the California Highway Patrol log, the 19 year-old driver fell asleep at the wheel coming from Pleasanton to Brentwood.
E59 located the vehicle which and confirmed it was in a ditch 30 to 50 feet off the roadway and they had access issues as they had to go through two fences to reach the patient. Medical care was then provided as the driver was suffering from moderate injuries.
The medical helicopter then landed on Vasco Road to transport the patient.
