Jill Fister blankets

Jill Fister, Realtor, is still collecting blankets in the form of donations for the upcoming winter months to help keep the homeless warm in East Contra Costa County.

Fister is still collecting gently-used, freshly-laundered and new blankets for the homeless before the weather really turns. You can even donate sleeping bags and quilts. The program is aimed at helping those who cannot make it into a shelter.

Fister began helping the homeless in 2009 when she and her daughter launched Quilts for Kindness where she wanted to find a way to give back to the community and be more selfless by extender her hand to those in need—she has even collected socks in the past.

“As the evenings and mornings get cooler there are a lot of people who don’t have warm homes and don’t even have a place in a shelter.  The small comfort of a blanket makes a big difference.  You can help do small things with big love,” says Fister.

Since our October article, Diamond Hills Sports Club has been added as a second drop off location for donations in an effort to assist the mission to provide warmth.

Drop Off Locations

  • Coldwell Banker Guidance Realty, 4851 Lone Tree Way, Suite B, next to Staples.
  • Diamond Hills Sports Club, Neroly Road, Oakley is on board for collection. Anyone can drop there just like my office at Coldwell Banker.
