Liberty Union High School District Tweaks Graduation Schedule

by ECT

On Tuesday, Eric Volta, Superintendent of the Liberty Union High School District announced that due to expected high temperatures this week, they have changed graduation times.

June 3

June 4

Both Independence and La Paloma will be holding their graduations indoors thus no need to change said Volta.

Volta says specific details will be released to families via each sites’ auto dialer and letters will be posted on the schools’ websites very soon.

Back in 2013, 25-people were treated for heat related emergencies which used up all of the Fire Districts resources along with AMR Ambulances stationed in East County.

  • 17 patients treated at Heritage High School
  • 8 patients treated at Freedom High School

We will update should their be any additional changes.

This is a good call but I think there will still be problems. There is no shade for the graduates or the guests. The bleachers get really hot and with so many graduates the ceremony is really long.

Just a hint for those of you attending sit on the side of the field where the sun is to your back. It is still hot but not nearly as miserable. Bring frozen waters as they melt and bring cooling towels for your neck. Pay particular care for elderly, medically fragile and babies and make sure you are watching them. Make sure your graduates are taken care of too.

Congratulations Graduates!!

Wouldn’t the bleachers covered with solar panels been a better choice. I hope there is no heat stroke this year at grad. Be careful bring lots of water. Maybe the district can supply some water too. Congrats to the grads!
