Letter: Resident Supports Rarey for Brentwood City Council

by ECT

Dear Editor:

“Karen (Rarey) is an amazing woman.” Those words are not mine but I totally agree with the person who said them, Alexandra Ghiozzi, President – John Marsh Historic Trust. If anyone deserves to be elected to the Brentwood City Council in November, surely Brentwood’s 2012 Citizen of the Year, Karen Rarey, is that person and a whole host of officials and private citizens agree with me.

I’ve known and worked with Karen since ex-mayor, Mike McPoland, ran for office in 2000. She helped Mike get elected and has been working for the betterment of Brentwood since she moved here in 1995. Her accomplishments are legend and I invite you to view them for yourself at https://www.facebook.com/rareyforcitycouncil/?fref=ts

What makes Karen unique and well qualified for the city council are qualities I have observed first hand since making her acquaintance. Enthusiasm for Brentwood causes, the ability to see and characterize Brentwood’s needs with those of far East Contra Costa County, knowledgeable about the city and its general plan, capable of making and carrying out excellent decisions, approachable and easy to work with.

Finally, Karen Rarey will bring a woman’s views to the council, a value that’s been absent since Annette Beckstrand served so well as vice-mayor. I believe a woman should be included in the council’s decision-making process as the city moves inexorably forward into the future, especially a woman whose platform includes economic development, public safety and smart growth to protect our quality of life.
