Ken Turnage II Announces Run for Antioch City Council

by ECT

Antioch resident and business owner Ken Turnage II announced Monday that he intends to run for Antioch City Council this fall.

Turnage, who is the owner of K2GC which is a construction firm who specializes in fire and restoration damage across the San Francisco Bay Area, says he is ready to take his business experience and apply it to help the City of Antioch.

“I am pleased and excited to announce that in 2016 I will be running for City Council in the City of Antioch,” says Turnage. “Antioch is the town that I have grown up in and love. With deep ties into the community, I feel that I will bring a positive perspective not seen on the council in some time. I represent a fresh start with a new approach to the business as usual mentality in Antioch.”

Although no formal platform was provided in his announcement, he says he wants to run a straight forward campaign with an open line of communication with the public.

“If elected, it will be a privilege to serve my community as a council member,” says Turnage. “I look forward to discussing many issues facing our city and working on realistic solutions on budget issues, blight, and future growth. As a business owner, I know some of the challenges our local businesses face and we must make some adjustments at a city level to attract and retain businesses while giving them a chance to succeed.”

He says he has no affiliations with anybody that can be considered “special interest” and is an independent in every sense of the word which he says will allow for honest conversation and apply decision making skills with what is best for the city and community as a whole.

Earlier this month, Turnage was awarded the Citizen of the Year (Most Impact) for 2015 by the Antioch Chamber of Commerce due to his effort in helping the community.

Turnage serves on the Antioch Economic Development Commission, is a member of the Antioch Rotary Club, supports and participates in the many events and activities of the Antioch Chamber of Commerce, and is a strong supporter Antioch Police Activities League (PAL) and the Leo Fontana Family Foundation.

This fall, Antioch council members Mary Rocha and Moncia Wilson are up for election. Wilson who is running for County Supervisor, if she places in the top 2 in the June Primary would then have an open seat come November. If she does not place in the top 2, she can run for re-election on the city council.

Turnage says he will be releasing information on a campaign kickoff event, a website launch, and more in the future. In the meantime, Turnage has created a Facebook Page for those who want to follow his campaign.

This is the best news on a Monday I have read in a very long time. Go Kenny! He don’t take crap from no one and that is what is needed in Antioch. Rocha and Wilson need to go! If Sean Wright can win mayor, between Ogorchuck Turnage and Wright, 3 votes can actually make Antioch business friendly again!
