Via the AP: Court partly reinstates Trump travel ban, fall arguments set
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is letting a limited version of the Trump administration ban on travel from six mostly Muslim countries to take effect, a victory for President Donald Trump in the biggest legal controversy of his young presidency.

The court said Monday the ban on visitors from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen could be enforced as long as they lack a “credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States.” The justices will hear arguments in the case in October.

Trump said last week that the ban would take effect 72 hours after being cleared by courts.

The Trump administration said the 90-day ban was needed to allow an internal review of the screening procedures for visa applicants from those countries. That review should be complete before Oct. 2, the first day the justices could hear arguments in their new term.

A much-anticipated study released Monday by a team of researchers at the University of Washington is likely to intensify that controversy — just as Los Angeles heads toward its own minimum-wage increase for large businesses, from $10.50 an hour to $12 an hour on July 1.

The new study has found that jobs and work hours fell for Seattle’s lowest paid employees after the city raised the minimum wage to $13 last year.

The analysis shows that jobs and hours for those workers declined faster in Seattle than in surrounding control areas, where the minimum wage did not increase.

Via BusinessWire: Use Illegal Fireworks? Smile! You’ve Been “Nailed”!
SACRAMENTO, Calif.–TNT Fireworks, California’s largest wholesale distributor of State-Approved (“Safe & Sane”) Fireworks, today announced the launch of their revised, dual platform smartphone mobile app that will allow residents in cities and counties throughout California to take pictures of the sale and/or use of illegal fireworks in that jurisdiction and email these photos, along with the GPS coordinates of the alleged illegal activity and a text and/or audio message, to that jurisdiction’s law enforcement agency or fire department so that it can immediately investigate, confiscate, cite and/or arrest those responsible for this alleged illegal activity.

This unique smartphone app, appropriately named “Nail’em”, which debuted in a beta form last 4th of July, places the power of illegal fireworks enforcement in the palm of any Californian’s hands. It will allow them to report the possession, sale and/or use of illegal fireworks in their community along with photos and GPS locations. The citizen’s complaint will automatically be routed to the correct law enforcement and fire personnel. The reporting individual can also opt-in to receive notifications and be kept informed regarding when and how their complaint was acted upon. This Nail’em app is being provided to communities throughout California and their residents, free of charge, as a public service of TNT Fireworks.
