Be sure to check out the newest issue of Delta Living Magazine which will be distributed later this afternoon. The free magazine jumps from its traditional 32-pages to 40-pages full of some nice content.

Publisher Charleen Earley compared opening this issue of her magazine to that of unwrapping a gift on Christmas morning.

“It’s wrapped up in exciting new articles, amazing photography, wonderful advertisers – and I can’t wait to show it off to everyone. I wish my mom were still alive to see each new issue, she’d be so proud,” said Earley.

In this quarterly issue, there is a variety of articles including a feature spread on Mic Gllette who is a world renown American brass player.  Discovery Bay’s Mike Guzzardo writes about why we should save the Delta while readers are in for a real treat as former Brentwood Press Editor Rick Lemyre makes an appearance talking about life after the Press.

Speaking of Lemyre, Earley was thrilled to have him contribute in this issue in a reverse role since he used to be her editor.

“This was both an honor and a coo for me personally and professionally, to have my former editor/boss of the Brentwood Press writing for ME! We sat down and discussed his next chapters in life and I was thrilled when he said yes to writing travel pieces for the mag here and there,” explained Earley”. “It was strange giving HIM a word-count and deadline; like giving your dad rules!”

Also joining the magazine was there new ad sales manager, Sonia Beasley, who came from the Brentwood Press. Earley credits her for helping the magazine grow in size and helping the magazine move forward and increase advertising base.

“I owe the growth of this July issue to her,” said Earley.

Finally, I had to ask Ms. Earley about this rumored “Wedding Edition” magazine that is coming out this fall and she confirmed the rumors true.  Still, she is not divulging many details other than she plans on producing “in between” quarterly issues.

“All I can say is it will be beautiful,” said Earley.  “Since my readers have been asking for  more,  I felt I needed to give them what they want, without going monthly! There will be Special Editions in between the quarterly issues, starting with the Wedding Edition! I purposely planned this Wedding Edition to hit stands mid-to-late August in order to steer clear of my competing publishers and their annual wedding issues. Bride and grooms need to start planning their weddings at least a year in advance, but as a publisher, I don’t want to ruffle feathers either! I’m not in this business to compete with others – but to compete with myself and live what I am passionate about and great at!

It was nice of Charlie to invite me to write for her. Her passion for Delta Living Magazine appears to be boundless, and she’s cobbled together a very talented group. The magazine is fresh and original, and I’m proud to be a little part of it this month.

Thank you Rick (loved your article) and thank you CONTRIBUTORS, READERS and ADVERTISERS for your support! I can’t do this without you!

As for following your passion in life … do it NOW! Life is WAY too short to sit back and complain about what you hate … when you can be spending it praising what you love!
