July 25-26: Hook Line & Sinker Set for Customer Appreciation Event

by ECT

On July 25-26, the community is invited to join Hook, Line & Sinker for their family friendly customer appreciation event which includes a variety of deals, giveaways, raffles, and even a fishing pond for kids.

Located at 3100 Main Street #260 in Oakley, the event aims to celebrate a year of transition with the business which has new ownership, completed a remodel, more than tripled its firearm offerings, launched an archery section and increased their fishing offerings.

A local businessman purchased the store from Gene Bucholz last year because they wanted to see the store continue to thrive and keep a local shop open. Bucholz called it a win-win for everyone involved because the store can stay open for the next generation of hunters and fisherman.

Bucholz highlighted that when he sold the business, they closed for 5-months for a remodel but came back better than ever because it allowed them to expanded its merchandise. He says the most noticeable thing besides the building’s facelift is the inventory with their firearms.

“The biggest increase you can visually see is when I had the operation we had just taken up firearms in 2007. The most guns I had at any time was around 250. The level we are sitting on now is close to 1,000 firearms,” explained Bucholz. “It used to be well do you have this in stock, the answer was no and we would order it. We would lose those sales. Today, do you have it in stock. Yes we do, people come in and they see it. It’s really been expanded and shows we are serious about this business.”

He says it feels good to be able to grow and offer more options for their customers.

“It’s exciting and it builds credibility with our customer base and brings in a new customer base,” said Bucholz.

IMG_3962A new genre entering the store is archery which their customers had expressed an interest in and they decided they wanted to fill a void.

“A lot of people archery hunt or do target practice, but you never hear about it because you just have to drive so far to get equipment or shoot,” explained Bucholz. “People come from all over the United States to compete in local tournaments here on the Delta.”

On the fishing side Hook, Line & Sinker has maintained a lot of their previous offerings; however, they have added more merchandise aimed at trout and salt water fishing.

IMG_3966 “We are growing more and that means more merchandise. It also means more merchandise for salt water fishing. We have always been the number 1 bass shop around,” explained Bucholz. “We are paying more attention to customer needs and wants and bringing it in on a quicker basis. We are also looking into fly fishing in the future.”

Hook, Line & Sinker has one goal in mind and that is to provide their customers with the most options as possible while bringing the fishing community back to Oakley.

“The Hook is still a legendary name in local households and we are known from here to the East Coast and people are glad to still see us here,” explained Bucholtz. “I am happy than heck that it’s continued and with the new owners abilities, it’s going to continue another 25-30 years.”

This weekend, attendees of the celebration will be treated to a variety of items:

  • Raffles of firearms, fishing gear and other items
  • Kids Trout Pond (200 fish) – first 100 kids get a pancake breakfast
  • Tri-Tipp BBQ
  • Gun Safe Extravaganza
