by ECT

Walnut Creek, Calif. (November 18, 2016) – John Muir Health Foundation, Friday announced that its 3rd annual Celebrate John Muir Health! Gala held on November 5, raised $1.8 million to benefit John Muir Health’s premier cardiovascular services. The sold-out gala, entitled “The Beat Goes On”, exceeded the event’s fundraising goal of $1 million and had more than 700 guests in attendance.

“Thanks to the generosity and support of our sponsors, community partners and guests, this year’s gala was again a great success,” said Cal Knight, John Muir Health President and CEO. “The funds raised will help us continue to advance the top-quality, innovative cardiovascular services we provide to our patients, their families and our community.

The 1960’s-themed black-tie gala was held at the Concord Jet Center in a private airplane hangar generously provided by the Hofmann Family.  Attendees included community leaders, physicians, clinicians, corporate executives, hospital administrators, board members and donors. The evening included a cocktail reception, fine wine by DuMOL, dinner by Taste Catering, a live auction and a “Make a Difference” funding opportunity.

Title Sponsors John Muir Physician Network Foundation Cardiologists and East Bay Cardiovascular and Thoracic Associates led the more than 60 companies and individual sponsors of the event, including Platinum Sponsors CEP America, John Muir Medical Group, Medical Anesthesia Consultants and Diamond Sponsors LabCorp, UCSF Health and ZirMed.

At the end of the evening, an Opportunity Drawing was held for the event’s most coveted prize, a luxury suite generously donated by Wells Fargo at Oracle Arena on Dec. 30 when the Golden State Warriors host the Dallas Mavericks. The prize package included 20 tickets to the game, 4 parking passes and $1,000 credit for food and beverages. The night’s other Opportunity Drawing prize, a Roberto Coin diamond bracelet, was generously donated by Neiman Marcus Walnut Creek.

Support for John Muir Health’s cardiovascular program through donations and proceeds from the gala will enhance services to patients and their families throughout Contra Costa County and neighboring communities.  John Muir Health’s cardiovascular services program offers patients advanced treatments and procedures such as TAVR, MitraClip and Hybrid A-Fib that are usually only found at academic and research hospitals.  The program’s comprehensive approach to heart health also includes cardiac research, clinical trials and cardiac conditioning, making John Muir Health a nationally recognized leader in cardiovascular services with volumes and outcomes that rival those of much larger medical centers.
