Incident Report Offers Details into Death of College District Trustee John T. Nejedly

A New Orleans Police Department incident report states that a gram of white-powdered substance in a plastic bag, money, a woman’s bra and a cell phone were found in John T. Nejedly’s hotel room at the time of his death.

The report states Nejedly was found unresponsive with blood and other bodily fluids visibly running down his mouth and chin.

Nejedly, a Contra Costa County Community College District Trustee, was 52-years-old was found dead around 8:20 pm on Oct. 9, 2016. He was in New Orleans to attend the Association of Community College trustees.

ON 10/9/2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 8:20 PM OFFICERS IAN SANTOFERRARO AND MICHAEL MURHAMMER HAD THE OCCASION TO  INVESTIGATE A SIGNAL 29U RELATIVE TO AN UNCLASSIFIED DEATH AT 2 POYDRAS ST, THE HILTON RIVERSIDE HOTEL. THE FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF THIS INCIDENT ARE AS FOLLOWS:

THE OFFICERS ARRIVED ON SCENE AND INTERVIEWED MS. LISA FINLEY, A SECURITY SUPERVISOR AT THE HILTON RIVERSIDE HOTEL. MS.  FINLEY INFORMED US THAT SHE OPENED ROOM 636 ATAPPROXIMATELY 8:05PM AND DISCOVERED AN UNKNOWN WHITE MALE, LATER DETERMINED TO BE MR. JOHN NEJEDLY, UNRESPONSIVE LYING IN BED WITH THE LIGHTS OFF. MR. FINLEY STATED AT THIS TIME SHE  THEN NOTIFIED EMERGENCY SERVICES.

THE OFFICERS ENTERED ROOM 636 AND OBSERVED MR. NEJEDLY LYING SHIRTLESS IN BED, UNRESPONSIVE WITH BLOOD AND OTHER  BODILY FLUIDS VISIBLY RUNNING DOWN HIS MOUTH AND CHIN. THE OFFICERS AT THIS TIME NOTIFIED SERGEANT GUGGENHEIM (UNIT 830B) OF THE INCIDENT AND REQUESTED EIGHTH DISTRICT DIU AND HOMICIDE UNITS TO THE SCENE.

NEW ORLEANS EMS UNIT 6249 ARRIVED ON SCENE AN ATTEMPTED TO RENDER AID TO MR. JOHN NEJEDLY. THE OFFICERS WERE  INFORMED VIA THE EMS UNIT 6249 THAT DR. KAR PRONOUNCED MR. NEJEDLY’S DEATH AT 8:25 PM.

EIGHTH DISTRICT DETECTIVES J. LATHROP (UNIT 1835) AND D. BUTLER (UNIT 1833) ARRIVED ON SCENE AND ASSISTED WITH THE INVESTIGATION. HOMICIDE SERGEANT M. AMOS (UNIT 4140) AND HOMICIDE DETECTIVE B. MATHES (UNIT 4176) ARRIVED ON SCENE AND ASSISTED WITH THE INVESTIGATION.

NEW ORLEANS CRIME SCENE TECHNICIAN T. BAN (UNIT 5124) ARRIVED AND PROCESSED THE SCENE. T. BAN CONFISCATED A WOMANS BRA AND A CELL PHONE FOUND AT THE SCENE.

NEW ORLEANS CORONERS OFFICE TECHNICIANS JENNIFER TRIGUEROS (UNIT 5076), GARY ANTOINE (UNIT 3030), AND RODNEY ROBINSON (UNIT 3029) ARRIVED ON SCENE.

OFFICERS CONFISCATED A CLEAR PLASTIC BAG CONTAINING RESIDUE FROM THE BATHROOM SINK, TWO ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR BILLS FROM THE SUITCASE, AND ONE ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR BILL FROM A DRESS SHIRTS FRONT POCKET LOCATED IN THE CLOSET.

OFFICERS ALSO CONFISCATED FROM A TABLE NEXT TO THE BED MR. NEJEDLY DRIVERS LICENSE/INSURANCE CARD/BAR LICENSE AND DEBIT/CREDIT CARDS.

THE OFFICERS THEN RELOCATED TO CE&P WHERE THEY PLACED MR. NEJEDLY’S PROPERTY AS WELL AS EVIDENCE IN THIS MATTER ON THE BOOKS UNDER CE&P RECEIPT #J0983016

ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING THIS INCIDENT WILL APPEAR IN A SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT

Mr. Nejedly was first elected to the Board in 1994, and was serving his sixth consecutive term of office.  He is only the fourth member to represent this area since the District was created in 1948.  Former Ward 4 representatives included founding Board member O.J. Wohlgemuth, Haman Howard, and Lee Winters

Mr. Nejedly represented Ward 4 which includes Blackhawk, Byron, Danville, Diablo, Discovery Bay, San Ramon, and parts of Alamo, Antioch, Brentwood, Clayton, and Concord.

After graduating from Cal-Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a degree in Construction Management, Mr. Nejedly completed his education at John F. Kennedy University School of Law, where he received his law degree.  In addition to being a member of the California State Bar, he was a California licensed Real Estate Broker and licensed General Engineering Contractor.

Nejedly is the son of Senator John A Nejedly and the brother of Contra Costa County Supervisor Mary Nejedly Piepho and Central Contra Costa Sanitary District trustee James Nejedly.

Drug related. Wow. It’s the first thing I thought of with prior drug and alcohol problems, and he was going through a divorce. Sad.

It is so unfortunate. Drugs and drug drama does not discriminate. Not sure why he was divorcing but grass is never greener on other side. D
