Home Care Workers Ask Contra Costa County Supervisors for Wage Increases

by ECT

Martinez, CA – Home care workers again gathered at the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors to demand a wage increase.

Contra Costa home care worker John Roe explains, “A wage increase will help lift home care workers like myself up, and let us live with dignity because we can’t take care of ourselves with our current wage”

Home care workers in Contra Costa County make just $11.50 an hour and have not had a raise in nearly seven years. They’ve been at the negotiating table with the County since January of this year, asking for a fair wage. The next negotiating session is October 6. The Board of Supervisors has the power to direct its contract negotiator to grant a wage increase.

The Board of Supervisors must act now.
