HEAT ADVISORY FROM 11AM PDT SAT UNTIL 11PM PDT MON …HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM SATURDAY TO 11 PM PDT MONDAY… THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN FRANCISCO HAS ISSUED A HEAT ADVISORY, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM SATURDAY TO 11 PM PDT MONDAY.

THE EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* TEMPERATURE…WELL ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES WILL BECOME WIDESPREAD AWAY FROM THE COAST THROUGH THE COMING DAYS. SUNDAY IS EXPECTED TO BE THE WARMEST DAYS OF THE HOT STREAK, WITH LOCAL TEMPERATURES OF UP TO TRIPLE DIGITS OR AROUND 20 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. HOT TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE INTO AT LEAST EARLY NEXT WEEK AND POSSIBLY BEYOND. COOLER TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST. OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES WILL PROVIDE SOME RELIEF DROPPING INTO THE 50S TO LOW 60S FOR MOST LOW LYING URBAN COMMUNITIES. FOR COMMUNITIES IN THE THERMAL BELT AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS EXPECT WARMER OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE MID 60S TO LOW 70S.

* SATURDAY-SUNDAY-MONDAY TEMPERATURE RANGES:

  • – INLAND NORTH BAY: 95-105F (LOCALLY UP TO 108F)
  • – INLAND EAST BAY: 95-105F (LOCALLY UP TO 108F)
  • – OAKLAND SHORELINE: UP TO 90-95F (LOCALLY UP TO 98F)

IMPACTS…PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO THESE TEMPERATURES, ESPECIALLY AFTER AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF UNSEASONABLY COOL TEMPERATURES, WILL INCREASE THE RISK OF HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES, PARTICULARLY FOR VULNERABLE POPULATIONS. PETS, CROPS, AND LIVESTOCK MAY ALSO REQUIRE EXTRA CARE THROUGH THE WARM AND DRY WEATHER. INDIVIDUALS FLOCKING TO THE COAST FOR HEAT RELIEF AND UNFAMILIAR WITH THE OCEAN MAY BE AT INCREASED RISK OF HYPOTHERMIA OR BEING PULLED OUT TO SEA BY RIP CURRENTS. HOT, DRY WEATHER WILL INCREASE RISK OF HUMAN SOURCED WILDFIRE. A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS…STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM…STAY OUT OF THE SUN…AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS. AVOID LEAVING PETS OR FAMILY MEMBERS IN HOT CARS. &&
