Grass Fire Burns 15 Acres in Discovery Bay During Busy Friday Evening

by ECT

A 15-acre vegetation fire in Discovery Bay  sent a giant ball of smoke into the air as East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters responded at roughly 6:39 pm in the field behind Safeway.

Crews were on scene for just under 3-hours and needed three engines to prevent the fire from spreading.

It should be noted that while crews were fighting this fire, the District also had a rollover accident on Camino Diablo just East of Vasco  Road in unincorporated Brentwood. There was also a reported vegetation fire in Oakley. All three incidents were handled with District resources and no aid was needed. Between 6-9 pm, there was a total of 11-emergancy calls.

EastCountyToday tips our hats to East Contra Costa Fire Protection District on a job well done last night.
