Garage Fire Destroys Oakley Home, Multiple Vehicles

At 11:23 Tuesday night, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of a garage fire in the 1700 block of Edgewood Drive in the City of Oakley.

While responding, ECCFPD received multiple other calls that the fire had spread to the home and by the time Engine 93 firefighters arrived on scene, the garage area, vehicles and a portion of the home were engulfed with flames.

Engine 53 immediately began structure protection of a neighboring home until Engine 81 and E88 from Contra Costa County Fire (Antioch) arrived on scene. Followed by Engine 52 (Brentwood) and 82 (Antioch).

The damage was listed at more than $300,000 including the home and two vehicles. Three people were displaced and no injuries were reported. The Red Cross was called to the scene.

According to preliminary investigation, the fire was believed to have started in the garage area with the exact cause unknown as of midnight. The fire investigator was still on scene investigating.
