by ECT

ECCFPD Spring Street

At roughly 4:04 am Sunday morning, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a garage fire on the 1400 block of Spring Street in Brentwood.

Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy black smoke showing from a closed garage door of a two story home with an interior door from the garage to the resident open. Heavy smoke then extended throughout the first and second floors of the home.

The garage received heavy fire damage and there was smoke damage throughout the home, however, the fire was contained to the garage.

At this time, ECCFPD are saying the probable cause was electrical.

Fire crews were on scene for nearly 4 hours.

The person that wrote this needs to check their grammar and spelling. If you are a journalist, shouldn’t this be one of your strengths?

In the second sentence you call the structure a resident (that’s the person who lives there), it should be residence.

Mike doesn’t pretend to be a newspaper reporter. Even if he worked for the Times i find their spelling and grammar to be sorely lacking and therefore no longer take it.

The spelling was actually correct, but instead of black smoke it said block smoke. It’s been fixed.

I will take local news with some misspelled words over the other so-called news in the Bay Area any day of the week. Keep up the good work ECT!
