Freedom High School Celebrates College and Military Bound Students

by ECT

On Tuesday May 21, Freedom High School celebrated the achievements of all its High School Seniors who are college bound students and those going into the military with the first ever “Letter of Intent Signing Day”.

The symbolic celebration took place in the gym where college bound seniors and future military personnel sat at tables while the rest of the student body, teachers, and others watch the ceremony from the bleachers.  A total of 2,600 people were estimated to be in attendance.

The ceremony was short with speeches by select dignitaries, however, each college bound student announcing which school they plan to attend.

“The College Letter of Intent Signing Assembly today was a thrilling and remarkable event.  The students were honored and engaged throughout the event.  I was proud to see our students behave in a respectful manner and cheer on their fellow classmates.  This behavior is no accident; it stems, in part, from the parents, the community and the teachers and staff who work with these kids on a daily basis,” said Feedom High School Pricipal Erik Faulkner in an email.

Here are four pictures that were provided by Faulkner.

All the high schools in the area should do this. Wonderful way to celebrate all the hard work these students put in the last 4 years!
