Frazier Says Tunnels Project Should Not Go Forward After Audit

by ECT

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jim Frazier, D-Discovery Bay, released the following statement Friday after it was revealed a federal audit found the Bureau of Reclamation spent nearly $85 million in taxpayer funds on planning for the Delta tunnels project that should have been paid for by Central Valley water contractors.

“We were told repeatedly that no taxpayer dollars would be used to pay for the Delta tunnels project. We have now learned this is not true. We have been told that the water contractors who will benefit from the tunnels are going to pay for the entire thing. But now we learn they can’t even pay for the planning process without taxpayer subsidies, and that a government agency tried to hide this fact.  This revelation alone should stop the project from moving forward. There are too many unanswered questions about the water contractors’ ability to pay for the tunnels. If they need $85 million from taxpayers just for planning, how can we trust their ability to finance a project that is slated to cost at least $17 billion? All Californians – not just those who live in the Delta whose livelihoods and way of life would be devastated by the proposed tunnels – deserve an honest and complete accounting of all the economic and environmental costs before the digging begins. I ask those who represent California in Congress to demand accountability from the Bureau of Reclamation and to seek reimbursement of the unauthorized expenditure of taxpayer funds. In California, I look forward to what the State Auditor finds when she completes her investigation into alleged misappropriation of taxpayer funds in support of the tunnels project by the Department of Water Resources and public water agencies, and am ready to take action.”

WOW! This California water gold rush is even bigger than I thought! $17 billion? We must inflate this even further to $25 billion due to greed in the project. Also, with less water available to Northern California you can guarantee the household water bill will at least triple in the next 20 years. And all for what? Agriculture that feeds more and more of the world and the state that thinks anyone can migrate here and consume all the water they want – at a price- and most likely subsidies under the social justice affordability mantra. YAK!

Finally something that Frazier can do for his voters. STOP THE TUNNELS

I look forward to a reimbursement to voters of $1B in tax payer funds specifically used to purchase vital votes cast on Jim Frazier’s Fuel and DMV Tax. But then, what are my chances of getting that back? Such a Hypocrite!!! Being the Assemblyman whose district these Tunnels effect, Jim could’ve taken a more outspoken stance against it to begin with, but to go against the Legacy Governor, is pretty dangerous for him, not that he hasn’t already committed Political suicide, by passing the Gas Tax, and being a co-sponsor/floor manager of Cap and Trade.

Any pictures of Frazier WITHOUT a dumb look on his face? What a blowhard without any substance.

It’s so easy to talk smack when you won’t even show your name. Very common on this site. Either step up with answers to fix problems or keep your ignorant comments to your wife’s. Jab/jab. Seriously if you are not coming to the table with legit common sense solutions. And most are not because they are afraid to use their real names. Stop hiding and grow a set. YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.

Hey Rob, we agree finally. People should comment under their name. Cheers!

Rob, your comment was ignorant, and you’re using your “real name.”

Rob Broocker you appear to be too dumb to even realize how foolish you are. You should be more concerned about that than worrying about who is posting what.

You of all people should post anonymously. It would save you further embarrassment. But please by all means, continue. I’m sure ECT enjoys you posting under your own name. Maybe you will figure it out but likely not.

Who really cares who is posting and the rules allow for screen names. Don’t like It? Don’t participate. It’s simple for most people to understand.

It’s all about the message, not the messenger.

Using your real first and last name adds credibility, but it’s not a good idea on the internet. I have enough common sense NOT to include my last name – thank you. First name – yes. Last name – unless you’re a public figure, there’s no reason to. Unless you have a common name, you might want to think twice.

Ummmm, let’s see how many incomplete sentences Rob Broocker can put into a single post while calling others ignorant.   But thanks for posting your entire name Rob Broocker because when it comes to credibility, an internet search showed me that my initial inkling was on the spot.

Internet searches are the very reason you shouldn’t use your real first and last name – lol.
