Frazier Introduces Bill to Stimulate Economy and Create Cleaner Environment

by ECT

Sacramento, CA – On Monday, Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Discovery Bay) introduced AB 509, a bill designed to reduce greenhouse gases while simultaneously creating jobs by establishing a Tire Recycling Incentive Program (TRIP).

“Californians generate more than 44 million waste tires each year, which harms our
environment and is a lost opportunity to stimulate the economy,” stated Frazier. “This bill
ensures a higher number of waste tires are recycled, processed and re-manufactured,
resulting in new jobs, less waste in our landfills, reduced local government costs and a
cleaner environment.”

AB 509 requires CalRecycle to develop and establish the program, which provides incentives for recycled products. This program is expected to double the state’s tire recycling rate from 37 percent to 75 percent by the year 2020. Fifty percent of the funds generated from this program will go to fund rubberized asphalt products; the remainder will go to other recycled products.

“We are proud to support AB 509, which will significantly increase tire recycling,
support local infrastructure development, and reduce the incentive for illegal dumping of
waste tires,” said Nick Lapis, Director of Advocacy with Californians Against Waste.“This is a proven policy approach that will double the state’s tire recycling rate and create California jobs from a material that is largely wasted today.”

AB 509 is currently awaiting assignment to policy committee in the California State
Assembly.

Assemblymember Frazier represents the 11th Assembly District, which includes the
communities of Antioch, Bethel Island, Birds Landing, Brentwood, Byron, Collinsville,
Discovery Bay, Fairfield, Isleton, Knightsen, Locke, Oakley, Pittsburg (partial), Rio
Vista, Suisun City, Travis AFB, Vacaville and Walnut Grove.

So when you say incentivize you mean “tax the hell out of”. when you mean to stimulate, you mean to graft from the general public and lace the pockets of Sacramento. Democrat politicians have no idea how to create market forces to rectify results.

when I buy a set of tires NOW I’m charged a disposal fee up front…WHERE IS THE MONEY!. Then they charge me another disposal “fee” – ITS A TAX FOLKS!. when I get rid of the tires once they wear out.

A true market solution would be to allow entrepreneurs to set up shop with little red tape as possible (aka GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY) and have a system where they buy the used tires from the customer who does not need them anymore.

If there is a market there is a way.
and Sacramento should not be the middleman!

Another BS money grabbing tax bill from Jim Frazier. The dude is out of control! How the heck was this guy ever elected to anything? He needs to be OUT of this business before he puts forth more bone head ideas.
