Frazier: Delta Tunnels Project Must Not Proceed

by ECT

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D–Discovery Bay), co-chairman of the California Legislative Delta Caucus, released the following statement Friday after reports Gov. Jerry Brown’s administration has given the green light to the proposed Delta tunnels project.

“I represent more of the Delta than any other member of the Assembly, and I will do everything in my power to stop this ill-conceived and destructive project. The truth is, ultimately the disaster of an idea called the Delta tunnels would disrupt the Delta economy and significantly burden agricultural production, recreational activities, the natural migratory paths of endangered fish species and legacy communities.  The governor needs to explore real options that communities throughout the Delta can support to achieve the co-equal goals of restoring and protecting the Delta’s habitat, and providing clean and reliable water to Californians.  He must not green light the tunnels plan.”

Assemblymember Frazier represents the 11th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Antioch, Bethel Island, Birds Landing, Brentwood, Byron, Collinsville, Discovery Bay, Fairfield, Isleton, Knightsen, Locke, Oakley, Pittsburg (partial), Rio Vista, Suisun City, Travis AFB, Vacaville and Walnut Grove.

Jerry Brown doesn’t care about the Delta. He will ram these tunnels down our thoats, and tell us to choke on it! So he can steal our good water for his corporate buddies in the Valley! If this happens, you will have sharks swimming in the Delta waters where your kids wakeboard at.

Had enough Jerry Brown too! No tunnels. His buds have plenty of money to build a solution without The Delta.

Too bad Frazier is just pandering and is largely disregarded in Sacramento. Nobody takes Jim Frazier seriously, he is just way too far out of his league.

Oh Jim,
If only you fought more openly and publicly against the Governor’s Tunnel Proposal, like you did for the Gas Tax or the Cap and Trade Legislation. Your ‘occasional’ public statements on the Twin Tunnels are meant to appease the Agriculture folks in AD-11 to show that you are “going what you can” to stop this project and nothing more. There truly are other solutions to Southern California’s water problems, and none of them require Tunnels (at enormous expense) to divert Sierra spring runoff to Southern California, totally bypassing Central Valley Farms and other Northern and Central California Reservoirs.

You’ve left me no choice, but to challenge you again. I have 63,000 who, after your recent stunts, will come out again to support me. This time, they will bring friends. Last time I checked, you only received 54,000 in the last midterm election cycle in 2014.
