Four Felony Charges Filed Against Suspect in Antioch Officer Involved Shooting

by ECT

The Antioch Police Department announced Tuesday that the Contra Costa County Office of the District Attorney filed four felony charges against Anthony Terry, 49, for his involvement in an officer involved shooting last Thursday.

Terry sustained minor injuries during the incident and is currently being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Felony assault upon a peace officer
  • Felony fleeing a pursuing peace officer while driving reckless
  • Felony illegal possession of ammunition
  • Felony possession of a firearm

On March 16 at 10:13 pm, Antioch Police officers responded to shots fired in the area of the 2000 block of Mokelumne Drive.  As officers arrived in the area they located an involved vehicle. Officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle and Terry failed to stop for officers.

Officers pursued the vehicle and during the pursuit, Terry used the vehicle to ram an Antioch Police patrol vehicle near Wawona Court. Shots were fired by the officer which wounded Terry.

Police say a firearm was located in Terry’s vehicle. He was then transported to a local hospital for his injuries and was considered in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

No officers were injured.

Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call Detective Vanderpool with the Antioch Police Department at (925)779-6988.

Antioch used to be a really great little city, but now it’s been taken over by criminals and the city fathers are not doing anything about it. What a shame!
