The Friends of Marsh Creek Watershed are hosting a Martin Luther King Day of Service at the Upper Sand Creek Basin Project, Giving the Natives a Chance Upper Sand Creek Basin Wetland Restoration Project Work Day

Join FOMCW for a community service day at the Upper Sand Creek Basin, $10 million flood protection and habitat restoration project recently constructed. Now that construction is completed Friends of Marsh Creek Watershed will be partnering with the Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District on a 10 acre wetlands restoration project within the basin. On this work day we will be planting nearly 1000 native plants and trees. 400 of these plants were collected from the site, propagated and cared for over the past two years by county employee volunteers. About This Project
What you should know about our work day:
- When entering there may be gates that need to be closed behind you as you go to keep cattle from escaping. Please follow directions on signs.
- There are no bathroom facilities at this site.
- Wear clothing and closed toe shoes that will likely get dirty or muddy. The weather can change over the course of the morning so wear layers!
- We encourage you to bring hand trowels & work gloves. Please mark your tools for easy identification.
- Water and light snacks will be provided.
