Five Laid Off ECCFPD Firefighters Hired by Santa Clara

by ECT

Five of East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters have now completed their fire acadamy training and will begin working for Santa Clara County shortly. While their loss to East County will be felt, we should all be happy for their good fortune in finding other work and I certainly wish them the best.

Yesterday, Chris Aleksunas, Scott Odenbrett, Brandon Martin, Dave Sosine & Aaron Monasky all graduated from the Santa Clara County Joint Fire Academy.  They were a great asset to our community and will be missed.

In a way, ECCFPD has the budget of the Oakland A’s and we just lost our players to the New York Yankees.  Here is a photo provided to me by Robert Ruddick which I believe Brian Helmick took the original photo.

Congratulations to these guys. I wish you all the best. Now to the residents of ECCFPD-Get used to this. Because of our pay scale we are going to become the “poaching” capital for dept. looking for laterals. Do not blame the fire fighters that get the needed experience and lateral elsewhere. They are doing what they have to to take care of their families.

ECCFPD (district) should change its name to ECCFPA (academy). Not sure why any of them would stay based on the way many citizens have disrespected them.

Shame.
