East Contra Costa Fire Protection District Engine 53 was first on scene and began to make fire attack to protect the structure and as additional resources arrived on scene the fire was contained.

According to the District, the resident smelled a burning smell about an hour before the fire but could not locate anything. No one was reported injured during the fire.

Preliminary information was that the fire was caused by an electrical short that sparked and started a fire.
