I just got word that Contra Costa County Firefighters were able to raise $27,000 for their annual Fill the Boot Drive to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Great job and I tip my hat to all of you who participated to this wonderful cause.

This week Contra Costa County Firefighters participated in the annual Fill the Boot Drive to help raise money for MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association). Firefighters were out in Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek, Antioch and Concord. This year they raised over $27,000 in donations. Money raised stays locally and is used in a variety of ways such as medical expenses, research and the kids favorite…CAMP. Kids are able to attend summer camp for a week in August where they get a chance to cut loose and just be kids. The men and women would like to thank all those who donated this year and keep an eye out for us in the future.
The firefighters were located at the following intersections on July 23rd and 25th from 9:00am through 3:00pm:
• Pleasant Hill – Contra Costa Blvd. and Willow Pass Road
• Concord – Treat Blvd. and Clayton Road
• Walnut Creek – N. California Blvd. and Mt. Diablo Blvd.
• Antioch – Sommersville and Delta Fair
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is dependent upon monies donated to the organization to find a cure and assist with treatments that comfort muscular dystrophy patients. Members of our Fire District have worked hard in the past to raise monies for the MDA and all of us in the District are hopeful that we will be able to top last year’s donation to help fight muscular dystrophy.

Something positive for a change is nice to read. I truly appreciate the effort of these brave firefighters to help a cause.
