At roughly 9:05 am, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District crews responded to a residential fire on Mountain View Avenue in Bay Point.

Upon arrival at 9:14, Engine 86 reported seeing light smoke and informed dispatch they had a working structure fire. Neighbors reportedly could not account for the man who lives in the home and according to dispatch, firefighters performed a rescue.

Firefighters located the man in the living room area and pulled him from the home at roughly 9:16 am where they transferred him to AMR  where they  performed patient care. According to radio traffic, the man was deceased and a fire investigator was called.

By 9:30 am, the fire was under control. According to CONFIRE spokesman Steve Aubert, the fire appears to have been started accidentally by combustible material placed over a floor furnace.

I love that you are quick to post the news, and I love following you on FB and online, but please proofread your story before publishing. I’m sure the man was decreased, but it’s probably more significant that he was DECEASED.

We actually had two typos which Brian made us aware of one of them. The article has been updated.

Don’t care about the typos. Love hearing about the brave men and women risking their lives hoping to save another. Thoughts go out to deceased mans family. Thanks and praise go out to our rescue crews.
