Fire Destroys Bay Point Home Monday Evening

by ECT

At 8:34 pm Monday, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to a report of a residential house fire at 32 North Broadway in Bay Point.

Engine 86 arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke and flames showing from a one story house.  E86 quickly verified with the residents that all occupants were out of the house and began extinguishing the fire from the outside of the home.  Fire crews then made an inside fire attack to contain the fire to the original home.

Battalion Chief Jim Huntze stated fire crews worked very hard to contain this fire to the original home.

“In all, 4 residents lived here with 2 being adults and 2 children and 4 dogs.  One resident was home at the time of the fire and had to escape out a back door to safety prior to our arrival,” said Huntze.

There was significant fire and smoke damage throughout the entire structure.  Fire Investigator 20 investigated the scene and deemed the fire cause as most likely a wall heater to close to a couch.

No firefighters were injured.  A $100 SAVE credit card was given to the owners the assist them in their time of need.
