FBI Offers $2,500 Reward for Information in Arson Attempt at Tracy Mosque

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects who participated in the December 26, 2015, attempted arson and possible hate crime the Tracy Islamic Center located at 11970 West Larch Road in Tracy.

Tracy-MosqueOn the morning of December 26, 2016, the president of the Tracy Islamic Center board discovered the remains of an explosive device known as a “Molotov cocktail” outside of the door of the mosque. Law enforcement determined the device was likely thrown over a chain link fence, possibly in an attempt to set the fire to the mosque. As a result of the incident, the center sustained approximately $1,000 in damages.

The incident continues to be investigated by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office; Federal Bureau of Investigation; and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
