Fairfield: Suspect Arrested After Attempting to Lure Teen into His Car Twice in Two Days

by ECT

The Fairfield Police Department announced Friday the arrest of a man who they say tried to twice lure under age girls into his car.

Police say twice over the last two days an obviously under-aged 15 year-old girl was walking on Beck Ave. near Cadenasso Dr. Both days she was approached by the same adult male who tried to get her to get into his car with him. Both times the girl refused and walked away, but had reason to believe he was following her. She reported the incidents, along with a description of his car to the Police Department. There was no physical contact between the suspect and victim.

On February 10, 2017 at 7:08 am, several Fairfield Police Officers were conducting a surveillance of the vicinity of Beck Ave/Cadenasso Dr. One of them spotted a car matching the description provided by the victim as it was being driven through a nearby neighborhood. Officers contacted the driver, Ausencio Rosales-Ramos on Burgundy Way near Sunhaven Dr when he inexplicably pulled over. He had a small child in the car with him.

Ausencio Rosales-Ramos, a 35 year-old Fairfield resident, was positively identified as the suspect in both incidents, and was arrested for misdemeanor “annoying and molesting a child under 18 years old.” The officers learned that Rosales-Ramos had no driver’s license, so he was arrested for being an unlicensed driver as well. Rosales-Ramos was booked into Solano County Jail on both charges.

The girl in this case was not more seriously victimized because she avoided contact with the suspect, did not engage him in conversation, and got away from him.

Police advised parents to please take this opportunity to have a conversation with your children about avoiding strangers, and how they should react if they are approached. Teach them to leave the stranger, seek a responsible adult that they know, such as a family member, a teacher, or a police officer, and to report anyone who tries to lure or touch them inappropriately.
