An Excessive Heat Warning continues until 9:00 pm Monday with Daytime temperatures in the range from 95 degrees to 105 degrees in many inland valley’s while temperatures could reach as high as 115 degrees in far interior and higher level elevations.
The heat impact will increase the potential risk for heat related illness, especially for sensitive groups, elderly, children, sick people as well as pets and livestock. This heat will be dangerous to anyone without proper hydration or adequate cooling.
Those who have outdoor activities planned are encouraged to plan accordingly as to try to schedule holiday weekend activities in the morning or evening when temperatures will be cooler, and with less exposure to direct sunlight.
An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. Hot temperatures will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely.

Cooling Centers:
- Antioch Community Center at 4703 Lone Tree Way is open for all residents from 8:30am to 8:00pm; the lobby is a great place to rest and visit. The community center will be open on Saturday and Sunday until 5:00pm if anyone needs a place to get out of the heat.
- Brentwood Senior Center from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm located a 195 Griffith Lane
- Pittsburg Library Community Room at 80 Power Avenue from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
