On Sunday June 8, at approximately 1:55 pm, the El Cerrito Police Department responded to a report of a Car-Jacking which had just occurred. The location of the crime was the parking lot of a CVS Drug Store (10650 San Pablo Avenue).
Officers arrived and found an 89 y/o female resident of El Cerrito lying on the ground. She had driven to the store to pick up her medications. When she returned to her car, the assailant confronted her.
He punched the woman and literally pulled her from her car, then drove away in her Toyota Camry. The victim was treated at the scene by ECFD and then taken to the hospital. She sustained injuries to her face and torso, resulting in a broken collar bone and ribs. The victim was hospitalized but is expected to survive.
Based on a description provided by a witness, an ECPD Officer was able to identify the suspect as Terrance James Hardy DOB 9/19/85. He is African American, approximately 5’7” in height and may weigh 170 lbs.
There is a warrant out for his arrest. The charges include Car-Jacking and Elder Abuse causing Great Bodily Injury. He is on Parole but has no known address. His photograph is included with this notice.
The victim’s car is still missing. It is a white 1992 Toyota Camry, license plate 2ZNR291.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Terrance James Hardy or the vehicle is asked to notify law enforcement immediately. Due to the violence of the assault, the suspect is considered dangerous.
