Ghostlight Theatre Ensemble is pleased to present its inaugural main stage production of Man of La Mancha, directed by Helen Dixon. Inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ epic 17th-century masterpiece Don Quixote, with a book by Dale Wasserman and music and lyrics by Mitch Leigh and Joe Darian, Man of La Mancha is one of the most successful musicals in Broadway history. Powerful, brutal, hilarious, and heartbreaking, Man of La Mancha celebrates the perseverance of a dying old man who refuses to relinquish his ideals or his passion. The celebrated score includes The Impossible Dream, I, Don Quixote, Dulcinea, I Really Like Him, Little Bird, and To Each His Dulcinea.

“There is so much about it that I love: the story, the characters, the score,” says Dixon. “Quixote’s seeing the impossible as possible represents the trials that all of us face in our lives. We can say, ‘No, that’s crazy,’ or I’m going to fight for what I believe in – regardless of the insurmountable odds – regardless of the fact that I can’t possibly win – but because I believe it’s the right thing to do…’

The standout cast includes Livermore residents Jesse Rodriguez as Padre and Wendy Rodriguez as the Housekeeper, as well as Richard Howarter (Cervantes/Don Quixote), Mikayla Thompson (Aldonza/Dulcinea), Chris Finetti (Sancho Panza), Kal Berns (Innkeeper/Governor), Hugh Patterson II (The Duke/Dr. Carrasco/Knight of the Mirrors), Justice Krugman (Barber), Emilio Lopez (Pedro; Captain of the Inquisition), and Hayley Finetti (Antonia), supported by an ensemble that brings the prison setting to life.

“To be able to work with this very talented cast to share this beautiful story to all who come to see it is a privilege…The audience will laugh and they will cry,” shares Dixon. “They will see people at their best and their worst and see that when we strive to be our best, we make our world a better place.”

Performances will be held at The Theatre at Edna Hill, located at 140 Birch Street in Brentwood, with evening shows on July 13th, 14th, 20th and 21st at 7:30pm, and matinees on July 15th, 21st and 22nd at 2pm.

Tickets are $20 for general admission, and $15 for youth (14-18) and seniors (60+). Tickets for children 13 and under are $13; however, this show has mature themes, and is recommended for ages 14 and up.
