East County Little League Opening Day Schedule

The East County Little League announced it’s opening day schedule while highlighting what to do should it rain on Saturday, March 5, 2016.

Parade:
Player drop off is from 8:15 am to 8:25 am at Yogurt Island with the parade beginning promptly at 9:00 am.

The Parade will be Organized ONLY BY DIVISION, youngest to oldest. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC TEAM ORDER. GROUP 1 – T-Ball & Farm; GROUP 2 – AASB & AABB; GROUP 3 – AAASB & AAABB; GROUP 4 – MAJOR SB & MAJOR BB; GROUP 5 – SENIOR SB, JUNIOR BB & BIG LEAGUE BB; CHALLENGER to be on floats behind fire engine. Look for volunteers holding Group number signs.

The parade will begin at Yogurt Island staging area where they will make their way down Vintage Parkway, down Main Street, and a right down Norcross to Oakley Elementary School.

You are encouraged to wear jackets and bring an umbrella’s in case it is lightly raining, the parade will still go forward.

In the event of steady rain – ONLY THE PARADE PORTION OF OPENING DAY WILL BE CANCELLED, go directly to Oakley Field 1 for brief ceremony. The minimum that is required for opening day is the National Anthem, Little League Pledge, and the First Pitch.

IN THE EVENT OF MAJOR RAIN OUT: The Basket Raffle and Major Raffle (the tickets you received at registration) will be open to drop tickets in envelopes/box from 8am to 11am at Oakley Basketball Court. From 12noon to 3pm Basket Raffle tickets can still be purchased and dropped in envelopes at Round Table Pizza on Main Street in Oakley. Basket Raffle winners to be pulled and called beginning at 3:15pm. Major Raffle prize winners will be pulled at Round Table Pizza at 2pm with winners to be notified via phone.

If there is no rain or light rain all baskets will stay at Oakley Basketball Court and winners will be drawn at 2:15pm. Major Raffle prize winners to be pulled during ceremony.

PARKING
– Parking is available at the following locations: gravel lot on corner of Gardenia & Main Street, City Hall, Oakley Elementary & surrounding neighborhood (limited), Oakley Plaza (limited). Please drive SLOWLY, be PATIENT and be COURTEOUS. There will be Little League players EVERYWHERE!

No Animals
Please leave FIDO at home, NO ANIMALS. The school has a strict NO ANIMAL rule, so please abide by it.

Tri Delta Transit

Rider Alert: Route 393 detour, Oakley, Saturday morning, March 5.

Due to a scheduled road closure on Main Street in Oakley, Route 393 eastbound and westbound will be on detour between 8:00am – 10:00 am on Saturday, March 5. Buses will bypass O’Hara and Main Street using Cypress and Empire.

All bus stops on O’Hara will be out of service as well as all stops on Main Street between O’Hara and Empire. These stops will reopen and be back in service following the temporary road closure.
