Antioch Neighborhood Clean Up Attacks Prosserville Park Area

by ECT

The 43rd installment of the Neighborhood Clean Up Program saw a spike in volunteerism yesterday from the month before as a group of around 50 people worked to clean the area around Prosserville Park located between W.6th and O Streets.

Assemblyman Jim Frazier and councilmembers Tony Tiscareno and Monica Wilson joined Antioch Police Chief Allan Cantando and many volunteers in the effort.

This is a collaborative community effort which involves active participation from United Citizens for Better Neighborhoods (UCBN), community volunteers, and the Antioch Police Department Crime Prevention Commission; Neighborhood Watch Program, Target Volunteers, Volunteers in Police Service, community volunteers and the Public Works Department.

Kudos to all the volunteers!

Excluding inclement weather, future Neighborhood Cleanup events will be scheduled for the first Saturday of every month and the locations will be announced in advance. If you have a suggestion for a future cleanup area, please inform the assigned Volunteer in Police Services (VIP) or you can call (925) 779- 6878.  If there is no answer please feel free to leave a message regarding your suggested cleanup area.

This has been a great thing for several years now in Antioch. People you can count on for sure. However it has become nothing but a photo op for politicians. Martha Parsons always dropped by with her dog for the photo op and then leave. It has gotten worse since then.

I take great offense to that comment Julio, maybe you should show up instead of complaining on a comment over the internet. I was there with Assemblyman Frazier and Councilman Tiscareno who filled up a bag each of trash collected for over an hour… Tiscareno went back out for a second bag. Monica Wilson took another route, but also had a bag of trash. Many of the volunteers had a bags of trash. This is not a photo opportunity, people are busting their butts on behalf of the city.

And you know what, even if this was a photo opportunity, at least the effort is being shown. Instead of slamming it, come on out and pick up some trash before passing judgement.

Beautiful shot of the woman with her daughter, great photos! This neighborhood is such a mess, glad to see its being given the attention it needs.

Very good Burk: You have no idea what I do and how long I’ve been doing it. Passing judgment on people who are my friends they know I support them even though physically I can no longer do it. I will support the politicians also if only they were there consistently. You like Frazer I don’t that is your problem

@Julio

Who cares why they are there as long as they are supporting a good cause. I think you are a bit out of line

I am not. He does not know me and doesn’t know what I do or don’t do so calling me out was wrong.

With all due respect to Mr Burk I love his blog. I have asked him to do more Antioch and he has. Even the pictures are getting better and better.
