ECCFPD Battalion Chief Okay After Being Struck by Suspected Drunk Driver

by ECT

An East Contra Costa Fire Protection District Battalion Chief is recovering after sustaining minor injuries after being struck by a suspected drunk driver in the City of Antioch late Monday night.

The crash occurred after Battalion Chief 5 was clearing a residential structure fire in Antioch in the 1900 block of Evergreen Ave around 11:45 pm. While returning to quarters, he was traveling on E 18th Street when a female driver ran a red light at Cavallo Road and T-boned the Battalion Chiefs vehicle.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was evaluated and released.

The female was arrested by Antioch Police who have yet to release information on the crash which is still under investigation.

We can’t cover our fire district. Anyone else see a management problem when our chiefs are in Antioch which is not our district? Our fire district is out of control and has no leadership. The time is here to drain this swamp.

No Mas- The district has issues, but most certainly isn’t due to a lack of leadership or overly-compensated staff. It is due to the property tax issues set by Prop. 13 when the area was covered by volunteers in the 1970’s. The leadership team (and front-line staff) do an awesome job of providing services with a significantly smaller budget than their counterparts in the county. The number of Con Fire units that respond into OUR district is at a rate of 2:1 greater than our units responding into their district when last I checked, and it may even be higher. Be grateful Con Fire continues the lop-sided arraignment, as they’re are times our crews could fight an interior attack or go into a building to rescue someone if adequate numbers of firefighters aren’t on-scene.If you are really concerned about the fire district issues, perhaps you should attend some meetings or do some research before you make such blanket inflammatory statements attacking the people who could all leave for neighboring departments and make significantly more money and not have to deal with a community that has failed to support them in providing the best possible service with what they are given….

Keep foolin yourself with that rhetoric. That dawg doesn’t hunt. The citizens of east county lost faith in this fire district a long time ago. 99.99 of all decisions made by the fire board have been bad ones. It’s undeniable and the state of the district reflects the worst possible decision making. That’s referred to as no leadership mi amigo.

Ah “drain the swamp” how ironic when rednecks say this coming from Trump who has never seen a swamp. A man who’s never gotten his fingernails dirty but let’s equate it to our local firefighters because they’re just like millionaire congressman too!

Mister Po, maybe you need to look an see what the fire chief is making. Did you get an 80 percent raise lately? Whoops, my bad it was more like 90 percent. That’s a swamp there my friend! No mas.
