During this holiday weekend, there is a variety of events to attend and celebrate memorial day begging today in Oakley at 10:30 am.

Antioch

Memorial Day Celebration and Student Awards Presentation — 9:30 a.m. May 27, Oak View Cemetery, 2500 E. 18th St. Call 925-584-6650, email [email protected], or go to art4antioch.org/memorialday.asp.

Bay Point

Spring Derby, Parade & Festival — 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 27, Ambrose Community Center, 3105 Willow Pass Road. Call 925-458-1601 or email [email protected].

Discovery Bay

They will be holding their celebration on Monday at 10:00 am on Harbor Drive near the Marina.

Oakley

Memorial Day Observance Ceremony — 10:30 a.m. May 25, Civic Center Park, 3231 Main St. Honoring veterans with song, bells and a gun salute. In addition, there will be a flag presentation, music with the Freedom High School choir, a wreath placement and a recognition of military personnel who were prisoners of war or who never came home. Keynote speaker is Tom Karas, commander of Antioch’s Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

Pittsburg

Memorial Day Ceremony — 10 a.m. May 27, Veterans Memorial, Small World Park, 2551 Harbor St. There will be a presentation to honor veterans and remarks by elected officials. Sponsored by American Legion Post 151, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 154 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars 1868. Ben Johnson, 925-759-3444.
