While a parade this Saturday will kick off the 2013 East County Little League  season, the league will also be showing off its brand new mobile web-application to keep fans up to date with scores and field conditions.

The ECLL Mobile is now live and available for you to browse  via the internet from your phone and use as a tool for communication! The free web-based application allows users to find all information relating to a game score, team, league schedules, and field conditions.

Ray Shaffer is the apps creator and developer who also happens to sit on the East County Little League Board as the Treasure explained the ECLL Mobile took just a few months to develop because he is familiar with the coding.

“The app didn’t take that long to develop.  Maybe a couple of month’s total, “said Ray Schaffer. “The great thing about it being web-based, it can change on the fly, pages can be added and removed based on what’s happening.  Plus, it’s free, so that makes the league happy.”

Shaffer explained that the idea came about because of the popularity of smart phones so it only make sense that the league create an app that communicated data from the website to peoples phones.

“The cluster of the idea came from the idea of getting communication out about field closures.  That always seemed to be the most difficult to communicate out to the community.  From there, it just expanded and seemed logical to put out as much data as we could,” said Shaffer.

The league hopes to use it as a tool to improve communication in real-time as all one has to do is hit refresh on the screen to get score updates, snack shack menu items or scheduling changes.

To View the Web-Based APP

The application is not available on iTunes or Google Play, but by browsing* to http://app.eastcountyll.org on any mobile device as its web-based.

 Opening Day Festivities:

Opening day will be held Saturday March 9th.  The parade will begin at 9am at  501 Norcross (in park connected to Oakley Elementary). The festivities will also include raffles and prize baskets.

About the League:
The league was established with Little League in 1989 and is based in Oakley, but the boundaries cover as far as Byron and Knightsen, including Brentwood and Bethel Island.  For the past number of years, the league has registered upwards towards 800 kids, which we have again this year.  The Challenger Division, which serves physically and mentally handicapped children, has grown from two-teams to a total of four-teams this year.
