Brentwood Farmers MarketMarch 7: Brentwood Farmers Market Returns
The Grand Opening of the Brentwood Farmers’ Market on Saturday, March 7, 8am to 12pm, Oak St. and First St. There will be music by Nova, a ribbon cutting ceremony with local officials at 10am, JoJo the Clown and kids’ activities, and a lot more. And new this year – we have expanded around the corner onto Oak St. so check it out. See you there as we enjoy another fresh season! The season will run from March 7, 2015 to November 21, 2015.

March 7: Antioch Police Neighborhood Cleanup
The Antioch Police Department is excited to announce the 59th installment of the Neighborhood Cleanup Program. This is a collaborative community effort which involves active participation from The Antioch Police Department Crime Prevention Commission; Neighborhood Watch Program; Volunteers in Police Service; community volunteers and the Public Works Department.

The 59th Neighborhood Cleanup event will occur on Saturday, March 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Canada Valley/Laurel Road neighborhoods. Volunteers should report to Kushner Way off Canada Valley Road for parking.


Delta Blues FundraiserEl Campanil: Delta Blues Festival Benefit Concert
Saturday March  7, 2015    7:00 pm
For the past 16 years, the Delta Blues Festival has provided the residents of Antioch and the surrounding communities a great day of family entertainment downtown at Waldie Plaza. All of this has been done for FREE – due to the generous support of Corporate & Local Sponsors, and hard work of the volunteers. Festival organizers are determined to continue the tradition of the DBF and to keep it free to the public.  For tickets, click here.


 

Network of CareMarch 7: The Network of Care will be hosting its 9th Annual Crab Feed (SOLD OUT)
This event will
benefit families of hospitalized children on Saturday March 7.  The event will have have raffle prizes and a silent auction to go along with dinner.

The doors to the event open at 5:30 pm with dinner to begin at 7:00 pm. Tickets are just $55 and must be purchased ahead of time–no tickets will be sold at the door.  The event will be held at Antioch Fairgrounds- Sunset Building at 1201 West 10th Street, Antioch, CA

Bring your e-waste items to The Streets of Brentwood to benefit the Liberty Union High School District’s educational foundation between 10:00 am – 2:00 pm to the Parking lot behind ULTA (2565 Sand Creek Road). For more information, click here for the flyer.


Antioch ArtsMarch 11: AUSD Art4Schools Middle School Exhibit at the Lynn House Gallery
The Arts & Cultural Foundation of Antioch is proud to present artworks from students from Antioch Middle, Black Diamond and Dallas Ranch Middle Schools beginning March 11th and continuing through March 28th. There will be an opening reception on March 11th from 4-6 PM.  There are many talented students in Antioch and this an opportunity to showcase their art like a professional artist in a local gallery.

The Arts4Schools Program is sponsored by the Arts & Cultural Foundation of Antioch, the City of Antioch and  Keller Canyon Mitigation Fund and Cal Pine Grants from Contra Costa County Supervisor Federal Glover. In addition to sponsoring the gallery exhibit, Supervisor Glover through the Keller Canyon Mitigation Grant, provides $500 to each participating school to be used for art and cultural supplies and educational endeavors. The Lynn House Gallery is located in the Rivertown District at 809 W. 1st Street, Antioch (across from the AMTRAK Train Station) and is open from 1 – 4 PM on Wednesdays and Saturdays during exhibits and admission is free.

antioch chamberMarch 12: Antioch Chamber of Commerce Inaugural Gala

The Antioch Chamber of Commerce is hosting their Annual Inaugural Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Lone Tree Golf Course & Event Center in Antioch.

The formal attire event begins with a social hour at 6 PM followed by dinner/program at 7 PM.The highlight of the gala is the recognition of Antioch’s 2014 Citizens of the Year, Business of the Year, Youth of the Year, Nonprofit of the Year, followed by the inauguration of the 2015 Chamber Board.

Tickets for the event are on sale now. Tickets are $75 each or table for eight is available for $575 and may be purchased on line at www.antiochchamber.com or (925) 757-1800. Reservation deadline is Friday, March 6th.

Get ready for a south-of-the-border evening of cheerful music with southern California’s own Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea.  The Divas are a unique, multi-cultural, all-female ensemble. Winner of the 2009 Grammy® award for best regional Mexican album of the year, you can often find them strolling the streets as official mariachis of Disney’s California Adventure. A blood drive has been scheduled for March 20-21 from 10:00 to 4:00 pm at the Somerville Towne Center Mall in honor of Matthew Ouimet and Brandon Burnett.

The event will be held inside the Mall near Sears and if you would like to donate a pint of blood, you are encouraged to book an appointment online.  If you cannot donate for any reason, will you bring someone who can? It will only take about an hour.

April 11: The New Oakley Library — Run for it!  
The Friends of the Oakley Library are hosting the second annual Book It Run, Saturday April 11, 2015 to promote the building of a new library for Oakley.  There will be a 10K, 5K,  and a 1K Run/Walk around the lake plus a FREE Kids Fun Run Electronic chip timing will be provided by the Freedom High Athletic Department for the 5k and 10k.  A Free T-shirt and medallion will be given to all registered in our 1k, 5k, and 10k before 4/3/2015.  Free books to the first 250 kids entered in the Kids Fun Run.  Sign up for Kids Fun Run at the park on the day of the run before 10:00.  The Kids Fun Run starts at 10:00.
