East County Events: June 8 and Beyond

It’s graduation weekend as graduates and their family celebrate their accomplishments over the weekend with Sunday providing a majority of the entertainment in East County. Sunday is packed with afternoon events as the Brentwood Armory is hosting their grand reopening party and immediately following that the East Bay Regional Park District will be hosting a family friendly event at Big Break Regional Shoreline beginning at 4:00 pm.

The graduation ceremonies at both Freedom High School and Heritage High School scheduled for Saturday June 7 have been moved up 30-minutes according to the Liberty Union High School District website.

The ceremonies were originally scheduled for 9:30 am, however, with high temperatures expected for Saturday, the District wanted to move the times up as a precaution to 9:00 am. For more information, visit the District website.


 

Fitness Boot CampOneRevolution

Brownstone Gardens Bridal Boot Camp
Open to the public, this free event begins workouts on Saturdays from 8:00 to 9:00 am throughout the summer and into the fall. The series will be led by Mary and Brandon Collins, independent Beachbody Coaches. Participants need to bring a Yoga mat, towel, and water bottle.  Brownstone Gardens is located at 91 Brownstone Road in Oakley.

Antioch Police Department 52nd Neighborhood Cleanup
9:00 am at Carmon Dragon Elementary, 4721 Vista Grande
The Antioch Police Department is excited to announce the 52nd installment of the Neighborhood Cleanup Program. The 51st Neighborhood Cleanup event will occur on Saturday, June 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Vista Grande neighborhoods. Volunteers should report to the parking lot of Carmen Dragon Elementary, 4721 Vista Grande. Volunteers will receive instructions and the equipment necessary to accomplish the goal. The targeted area is within walking distance.

The farmers market will run on Saturdays between March 15 through November 22 between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm located at First Street between Oak and Chestnut.


Brentwood Armory newKAT Country Concert

Sunday June 8: The Brentwood Armory will be hosting a Re-Grand Opening Party from 11:00 to 2:00 pm to showcase their newly remodeled store. KAT Country will be on hand helping celebrate by giving away 2-tickets every 10-minutes for 2-hours between 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm for their Listener Appreciation Concert for June 21. The event will feature jumpers for kids, food, and plenty of raffle prizes.

Big Break Sunday
Sunday June 8: East Bay Regional Park Delta Living & Campfire
This free family event begins at 4:00 pm and goes until 8:00 pm which includes activities, games, and a nature walk at the Big Break Regional Shoreline in Oakley located at 69 Big Break Road. The event also has a campfire which begins at 6:30 pm.

Brentwood Chamber of Commerce: Poker Tournament
On June 27, the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Texas Hold-em Poker Tournament to help raise funds for then annual holiday parade. The event is located at the Senior Center at 130 Griffith Lane in Brentwood and the event begins with a Dinner Buffett at 6:30 to 7:30 with the poker tournament to begin at 7:30. The buy in is $65.

June 28: Brentwood PAL Fundaiser hosted by Chamon Kabob Restaurant
Chamon Kabob Restaurant will be hosting their Two Year Anniversary on Saturday June 28th from 2-5pm. They wanted to celebrate by giving back to the community by hosting a family friendly fun which includes face painting, balloon making, a police car and the highlight will be an eating contest. You are encouraged to attend and help support Brentwood PAL who will be accepting donations to help raise funds for the Brentwood Police Activities league.

Streets of Brentwood Parade

Streets of Brentwood 4th of July Parade
The Streets of Brentwood will be hosting a 4th of July Kids Parade on July 4 beginning at 8:00 am and will end around 11:00 am. The event will feature:

  • Parade of beautifully decorated strollers and wagons
  • Contest in multiple categories for the decorated strollers and wagons
  • Face Painting
  • Balloon Twisting
  • Raffle
  • …and much more!
