June 6: Delta Tactical Training Group Basic Civilian Handgun Safety Training
Class Cost: 
$120.00 + $10.00 range fee
Class Time: 8 hours, 9 AM to 1 PM/Range Time: 2 PM to 4 PM

Materials Needed: 50 rounds of ammunition and eye/ear protection

If you have little to no experience with handguns, this is the class for you. You will learn about the basic safety and responsibilities that come with owning and operating a handgun. This class teaches general safety rules, range rules, basic gun laws and transportation and storage of a firearm.

Brentwood-Farmers-MarketJune 6: Brentwood Farmers Market
The Brentwood Farmers’ Market on is open on Saturday from 8am to 12pm, Oak St. and First St.  New this year – they have expanded around the corner onto Oak St. The season will run from March 7, 2015 to November 21, 2015.


 

June 6: Oakley Mayor at the Market
Mayor Doug Hardcastle will be at the Lucky Supermarket on Saturday, June 6th from noon to 2:00 p.m. Be sure to stop by and say “hello” to the Mayor as you head in for needed grocery items


 

Patriot-Jet-FoundationJune 7: Patriot Jet Team Open House
The Patriots Jet Team Foundation will be having an open house on Sunday, June 7th from 11:00AM-1:00PM at the Patriots Jet Team Hangar Facility located at 760 Osprey Ct. at the Byron Airport. As many residents may not be familiar with the Patriots Jet Team or the Foundation this will be the perfect opportunity to see their six, L-39 jets which perform at air shows all over the west coast along with MIG-17’s and other high performance planes.

The Foundation provides educational hands-on STEM programs for our youth in our community including the basics of flight, aircraft design and build, as well as a pilot ground course, and much more. These exciting programs and future programs will be discussed and of course we are always looking for more volunteers to work with our kids and community.

The Hundred-Year-Old-Man Who Climbed Out The Window and Escaped at 2:00 pm
Allan Karlsson is about to celebrate his hundredth birthday, and a birthday party is planned at his retirement home. Allan is alert despite his age, but not so interested in the party. Instead he steps out the window and disappears. He gets hold of a suitcase of drug money and becomes chased by both drug dealers and the police. Filled with lots of adventures, Allan’s life story is told in parallel to this. He eats dinner with the future President Harry S. Truman, hitchhikes with Winston Churchill, travels on a riverboat with the wife of Mao Zedong and walks across the Himalayas on foot.

Brentwood LogoJune 12: Starry Nights in Brentwood Summer Concert Series
This Starry Nights in Brentwood Summer Concert will feature “Forejour”, a tribute to Foreigner and Journey! The concert will be held in City Park, located at 710 Second Street in Brentwood.  The show will begin at 7 p.m.  All patrons are asked to follow park rules before, during, and after the concerts.  No dogs, no glass containers, and no audio/video recording devices allowed.  Ample parking is available in the parking garage.

Join us as we will reveal the winner of the Oakley Film Festival followed by Disney’s “Maleficent”. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, snacks will be available for purchase. The movie will begin at dark between 8:30 and 9:00 p.m. The event is held at Oakley’s Civic Center in downtown Oakley

The City of Oakley is hosting the inaugural Oakley Film Festival, featuring short films submitted by local youth. The goal is to provide a platform for filmmakers to share their art with the community, as well as to provide the community with a positive experience viewing these films while supporting local artists. The Festival also aims to showcase Oakley and the people who make it a wonderful and unique place to live. June 20: Oakley to Host Main Street Car Show

Join the City of Oakley on June 20 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Civic Center plaza for their Main Street Car Show. The car show is open to all makes and models of American and Foreign cars. Space is limited and pre-registration is required at City Hall. $25 (includes Dash Plaque and Goody Bag. The city is also accepting retail and craft vendors.

June 27: You Me We = Oakley Citizenship Drive
You, Me, We = Oakley is scheduled to host a Citizenship Drive on Saturday June 27 at Oakley City Hall in order to assist applicants commence in naturalization process to become US Citizens. Participants will be screened for eligibility and have a volunteer fill out their applications and be placed in the appropriate English/Civics exam preparation course.
