Here is a look at some of the local events within East Contra Costa County for Saturday March 22 which has a full day of events for people to chose from.

ECCFPD Pancake Breakfast
Pancakes at the Firehouse Fundraiser
East Contra Costa County firefighters will be hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser for 3-year-old Quentin “Squish” Rios Saturday March 22 beginning at 9:00 am at Station #93 in Oakley.

Rios, who is from Oakley, was diagnosed with a brain tumor which has affected his vision where the tumor is located throughout his optic nerves. The tumor is inoperable because of its location within the brain and the treatment is 60-weeks of chemotherapy with a goal of preventing the tumor from further growth while hopefully shrinking the goal is to stop the tumor from growing and potentially shrinking it.

The farmers market will run on Saturdays between March 15 through November 22 between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm located at First Street between Oak and Chestnut.

The Oakley Chamber of Commerce will be hosting  a Spring into Oakley event today between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Oakley Civic Center Park with food, vendors and a kids zone. The event will also feature a bike parade along with wine and beer sales.

Bring your family on a magical journey with this 60-minute version of Mozart’s famous opera, perfect for all ages.  The Magic Flute is the charming story of Prince Tamino and bird catcher Papageno’s journey to rescue Pamina, a beautiful princess who has been kidnapped by the magician Sarastro. Along the way they find their true loves and discover the virtues of wisdom and forgiveness. This production was presented for families at San Francisco Opera in 2007 and is in English. A 15-minute live introduction will precede the screening.

Cornerstone Christian Center is hosting an event of a diverse selection of small businesses, arts and crafts vendors, and direct sales companies. The proceeds will support the Children’s Ministry at Cornerstone.

Emergency Preparedness Workshop (Community Event)
From 9:00 am to 10:00 am, the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church is hosting an Emergancy Preparedness Workshop at their Community Center. Come by to see what the RED CROSS recommends, what an emergency kit looks like, how to set up camp if needed. How to turn off your gas in an emergency and more! Be prepared. Please mark your calendars for MARCH 22nd 9am.  Location. 500 Fairview Avenue, IHM, Community Center.

Congressman McNerney to host Financial Literacy Workshop
Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-09) announced he will host a financial literacy workshop on Saturday, March 22nd for residents of Contra Costa County.

The emphasis of the workshop will be on providing attendees with resources to help them make good financial decisions – including general tax information, tax implications of the Affordable Care Act, and financial aid resources for students of all ages.

The event will run from 2:30 to 4:30 pm at the Lone Tree Elementary School in the multi-purpose room located at 1931 Mokelumne Dr., Antioch, Calif.

East County Little League 1st Annual Crab Feed
On March 22, the East County Little League will be hosting a crab feed at Brentwood Veterans Memorial Hall. Doors open at 5:00 pm and the feed begins at 6:30.  If you register before March 1, the cost is $40.
