East Contra Costa Fire Response Times at 8:24 Minutes in November

The East Contra Costa Fire Protection District reported that in the month of November they had 699 service calls with an average response time of 8:24 minutes.

In the month of October, the District ran 618 calls with a response time of 8:40 minutes. In calendar year 2017, the District has an average response time of 8:25 minutes and in 2017 had a time of 8:02 minutes.

During the month of November, the District responded to 10 residential structure fires, 1 commercial structure fire, 7 vehicle fires, 0 large vehicle fires, and 4 vegetation fires and 11 exterior fires. The District also responded to 29 vehicle crashes with an additional 10 requiring rescue. They also had 2 vehicle vs. pedestrian calls, 4 motorcycle crashes, and 2 bicycle accident.

Due to call volume, the District had zero engines available 24-times which totaled 6-hours and 4-minutes. During that time, 1 incident was handled by CONFIRE and AMR.

According to the District, here is a breakdown of the Calls For Service by Station in the month of December:

  • Engine 52 (Brentwood) ran 34% of the calls for service rolling out of the station 303 times
  • Engine 53 (Oakley) ran 43% of the calls for service rolling out of the station 378 times.
  • Engine 59 (Discovery Bay) ran 14% of the calls for service rolling out of the station 124 times.
  • CALFIRE assisted in 3% of the calls for 24 rollouts.
  • Auto Aid assisted in 6% of the calls for 53 rollouts.
  • Mutual Aid received assisted in 0% of the calls for 0 rollouts.

Average Response Time by Service Area:

  • Bethel Island – 14:48 Minutes (24 calls)
  • Knightsen – 10:22 Minutes (23 calls)
  • Discovery Bay/Byron – 10:20 Minutes (90 calls)
  • Marsh Creek – 10:07 Minutes (16 calls)
  • Brentwood – 7:36 minutes (322 calls)
  • Oakley – 7:33 Minutes (215 calls)

In the month of November, the District received auto aid from Contra Costa Fire 53-times with them sending a total of 93 engines. Meanwhile the District sent CONFIRE auto aid 30-times for 36 engines.
