At the May 2, 2018, regular Board Meeting of the Town of Discovery Bay, the Board of Directors received public comment on the Water Meter Installation Payment Options and reconsidered the Options identified in the April 13, 2018 letter. The Board opted to replace individualized pricing in favor of an equal cost share amounting to a monthly $8.01 charge on the water bill for all customers that received a water meter in the Water Meter Installation Project.
Customers are advised to disregard the Water Meter Installation Payment Options identified in the April 13, 2018 letter and refrain from sending any corresponding payments to the Town for water meter installation.
In the coming days, the Town will be sending correspondence to each customer advising of the recent Board of Director’s decision.
If you previously sent the Town a check for full payment of the meter installation at your property, your check will be mailed back to you.
Below are important details regarding the monthly $8.01 charge:
The monthly $8.01 charge will begin effective July 1, 2018, for all newly metered customers.
The monthly $8.01 charge represents the proportionate cost attributable to each customer receiving a water meter during the Water Meter Installation Project.
The monthly $8.01 charge will continue until the proportionate cost attributable to the customer’s property has been satisfied, which has been determined to be 120 months.
The monthly $8.01 charge remains with the meter, meaning that if the house is sold, the $8.01 charge will be added to the new homeowner’s water bill and continue until the proportionate cost attributable to the customer’s property has been satisfied.
