Discovery Bay: Man Arrested After Placing Fake Bomb in Truck

by ECT

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Peter Balas, 19 of Pleasanton, after he allegedly placed a fake pipe bomb in the back of a truck.

The incident occurred at 6:27 pm Thursday in the 14000 block of Highway 4 in Discovery Bay near Safeway.

The Sheriffs Office reports that a man called to report that a box was thrown into his truck by a person who he knows. He removed the box, which contained what appeared to be a pipe bomb.

Deputies set up a perimeter. The Walnut Creek Police Bomb Squad responded and rendered the device safe. It turned out to be fake.

Deputies were able to locate and arrest the suspect. 19-year-old Peter Balas of Pleasanton is currently at the Martinez Detention Facility on a false bomb charge. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Might as well just planted a real bomb if you’re going to get busted regardless lol.

The post-9/11 paranoid America is a strange place… Children shot for having fake guns in public, people arrested for fake bombs, always on the lookout for “suspicious packages,” terror level warnings on daily fluctuations, etc. Terror in the streets! Terror in the skies! Terror in your mind!

Yeah, because we should all be able to place fake explosives wherever we want. Right? Don’t be a dumb ass. They use up precious resources and must be treated as if they are real. Although you tried to project Chicken Little, you came off as chicken shit. Good job.

You’re free to do whatever you want to do, Nick. Anything can be deemed a “fake explosive.” What does a fake explosive look like anyway? The point being made was that if the penalty for putting a fake bomb in a truck is equal to actually putting a real bomb there, then he might as well have put a real bomb. It’s called sarcasm, you dimwit. Nick, I hope one day you can take your head out of the status quo’s ass and think for yourself for once. So far from all of your posts you seem like a true Ameritard.

The sarcasm was lost in your bizarre post which was mostly made up of your attempt to paint everyone as paranoid.

Try to stay on topic here and not deflect by trying to start a debate about what constitutes a false explosive. In this case it was a pipe bomb….sounds pretty straight forward and easy to picture.

You mentioned that he might as well have put a real bomb in the truck if “the penalty is equal”. Well, there hasn’t been a penalty yet, he hasn’t been tried! He got his dumb ass arrested and locked up though. But if that’s all you’re looking at then that’s pretty nearsighted. There are two different laws concerning placing false explosives and actually possessing destructive weapons, the second almost guaranteeing state prison time.

As much as it bothers you to hear, both of these actions are illegal and will get you in trouble. You are not “free to do whatever you want to do”. That notion and your angle on this matter is strange and makes you look like an idiot. But, hey….suit yourself.
