Discovery Bay: K-9 Locates Burglary Suspect Hiding in Dog House

by ECT
On Thursday at about 2:37 PM, a citizen reported seeing two people break into a home on the 3600 block of Sailboat Drive in Discovery Bay.
A Deputy Sheriff arrived on scene and saw two male subjects flee on foot. One of them was detained, while the other got away.
Other Deputies set up a perimeter. A resident reported seeing someone jump into a nearby backyard on Foghorn Way. An Antioch police K-9 assisted in the search for the outstanding suspect. While searching the backyard of a home, the K-9 found the suspect hiding in a dog house.
Property that was stolen from a residence was recovered.
Deputies arrested three people in this case:
  • 19-year-old Marshawn Daniels of Richmond. He was booked for burglary, conspiracy, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and probation violation. He is being held without bail. (Daniels is the subject that was initially detained at the scene).
  • 24-year old Cortez Barber (residence unknown). He was booked for burglary, conspiracy and probation violation. He is being held without bail. (Barber was the suspect that was found by the K-9).
  • 26-year-old Shante Lewis of Richmond. She was booked for burglary, conspiracy, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools. She is being held in lieu of $230,000 bail. (Deputies contacted Lewis waiting in a car nearby).
All three are currently at the Martinez Detention Facility.

I am so fed up with these kinds of low lives. It is just a revolving cycle of committing a crime, being released on probation, committing another crime, and so forth. There needs to be more strict laws in place for continuous offenders. And to think a lot of these punks are considered “low level offenders.” They will attack you and rob you any chance they get.
