Discovery Bay: Highway 4 Shut Down After Vehicle Enters Canal

At 7:20 pm Friday, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District was dispatched to a report of a vehicle that had entered the canal along SR-4 east of the Town of Discovery Bay.

Engine 59 arrived on scene along the county line to locate a vehicle that had gone into the canal with one one patient who was pulled from the vehicle.

They reported Highway 4 was shut down in both directions for safety reasons.

Update:
Engine 59 reporting victim sustained minor injuries. Medical helicopter cancelled.

Update:
The roadway has since been re-opened.
