Discovery Bay: Elderly Female Suffers Fractured Leg After Not Putting Vehicle into Park

At 6:58 pm Monday, East Contra Costa firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian in the parking lot of 14000 block State Route 4 in Discovery Bay.

Upon arrival, Battalion Chief 5, who happened to be in the area, located an 80-year-old female on the ground with a leg fracture. A medical helicopter was immediately requested where she was flown to John Muir Trauma Center in Walnut Creek.

According to the District, the injury occurred when the female did not put the vehicle in park. As she exited it started to roll downhill rolling over her leg.

Engine 52 (Brentwood) was called to assist Engine 59 (Discovery Bay) with the medical helicopter.

The accident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
