Discovery Bay Announces “The Festival of Trees” Fundraising Event

by ECT

With winter approaching and the Holidays right around the corner, the Town of Discovery Bay is getting you into the Holiday spirit by hosting the inaugural “Festival of Trees”. You can participate by decorating a themed artificial holiday tree or wreath and delivering it to the Community Center before October 30th.

Beginning November 3, 2014, decorated trees and wreaths will be on display at the Community Center where they will remain until Saturday, November 15, 2014 when they will be auctioned off at a community mixer and holiday themed open house, starting at 5:00 p.m. The open house is open to anyone, and holiday beverages and snacks will be served. Santa will also be on hand, taking Christmas wishes and posing for photos with children of all ages.

Those participating by decorating a themed tree can choose a non-profit organization of their choice, and 80 percent of the funds raised from the sale of your donated tree or wreath will go directly to your selected organization. The remaining portion will go to support the Discovery Bay Community Center, and any trees not sold will be donated to a local family in need.

“This is a wonderful community based event that will provide critical funds to a wide variety of charities during this holiday season”, noted Town of Discovery Bay Director Marianne Wiesen. “The support of the community has been overwhelming, and we have a number of fantastic themed trees and wreath’s to auction off on the 15th!”

Starting November 3rd, stop on by the Community Center, at 1601 Discovery Bay Blvd, during regular business hours and take a look at the beautiful holiday decorations.
